#AskTheExpert Hello ma'am! I suffered an abortion due to incompetent cervix last year at 22 weeks. my gynac recommended Transabdominal Cerclage. what is your recommendation?

ExpertDr.Sabiha AnjumObstetrician and Gynaecologist2 years agoA. Are you pregnant right now? How is your cervical length at this time? If it is less this time also then you can go ahead with the cerclage procedure. But ask your doctor why she is considering abdominal route rather than vaginal?

My gynac said that it has better results than vaginal Cerclage. minimum bed rest is required and studies have shown that it has much higher success rate than vaginal Cerclage. Right now my cervical length is around 3.3 cm
