#AskTheExpert good morning Dr. my 1 month baby having cough and cold ..i am giving medicine prescribed by my pediatric...And he is passing watery stool 4 to 5 times in a day...why this is?...is it because of cold or normal...and please suggest some medicine if required

A. Cold is most of the time because of some viral infection or allergic condition and symptoms are usually sneezing, running nose, nasal congestion and fever. cough along with throat irritation are usually associated . Treatment consists of antiallergic antipyretics analgesics and decongestants medicine . As a home remedy steam inhalation would be very useful . Medicines like wikoryl / tminic / Alex cold can be used in a proper dose for oj3-5 days as per the symptoms . Steam inhalation is repeated frequently .

A. It's normal for breastfed babies to have frequent, soft bowel movements. But if your baby is having frequent, watery, “explosive” stools and is acting sick, you should call your doctor. When a baby has diarrhea, fluids, salts, minerals and nutrients that would normally be absorbed into the body are lost.
