A. yrs, birth marks, or Mongolian spots are harmless and do not need any medical intervention. These lesions are most prominent at the age of one year and start regressing thereafter, with most of them disappearing by early childhood.

A. Most birthmarks are harmless. They may fade away on their own as the child grows up. But some may remain permanent. So it depends on the type of birth mark. You can get it examined by your pediatrician and decide if a surgical intervention will be needed and when.
