A. When to Start Solids? When your baby is around 6 months old. When they show signs of readiness: Can sit with support and hold their head steady. Show interest in food (trying to grab it). Have lost the tongue-thrust reflex (which pushes food out of the mouth). How Many Times to Give Solids Per Day? At the beginning (6-7 months): Start with once a day, a few spoonfuls. Gradually (7-9 months): Increase to two meals per day. By 9-12 months: You can offer three meals and small snacks. Key Tips for Starting Solids Begin with single-ingredient purees like rice cereal, mashed banana, or dal water. Always continue breastfeeding or formula as the main source of nutrition. Introduce one new food at a time and wait 3-5 days before trying another. Offer food in the morning or afternoon to observe any allergic reactions.
