Only breastmilk or formula are main sources of nutrition for babies till 1 year, so exclusively give breastmilk till 6 months. After 5 to 6 months you can give solid foods to baby after confirmation and guidance from baby's pediatrician. Babies usually should double their birth weight by 5th month and triple birth weight by 1 year. Breastmilk is generated on demand supply basis and the more you feed baby, the better milk supply. Even pumping gives stimulation and increases breastmilk production. Pump a few times a day after feeding baby. Try to have galactagogues like Galact powder three times with milk, lots of roasted garlic I everything, Shatavari, fenugreek seeds cooked with rice, poppy seeds or khus khus, sesame seeds, palak leaves, dill leaves, methi leaves, fennel or saunf, Soaked garden cress (aliv/aalvi/halim), gourds especially ridge gourd, ghee, whole grains, such as brown rice, quinoa, oats, dry fruits such as walnuts, flax seeds, almonds, hazelnuts, dried figs, tofu, paneer, butter, and whole curds, jaggery. Eat healthy diet with lots of citrus fruits, leafy greens, and vegetables. Drink atleast 3 litres of water, and other liquids like fruit juices, coconut water, soups daily.
