A. As a 14-month-old baby is transitioning to a more varied diet, it's important to offer a balanced and nutritious mix of foods. Here's a sample of Indian food options suitable for a 14-month-old: ### Breakfast: 1. **Oats Porridge:** - Cook oats with milk or water. Add a dash of ghee and include mashed fruits like banana or apple for sweetness. 2. **Paratha with Curd:** - Serve a small whole wheat paratha with a side of plain curd. You can stuff the paratha with mashed vegetables for added nutrition. ### Mid-Morning Snack: 3. **Fruit Cubes:** - Offer bite-sized pieces of soft fruits like mango, papaya, or melon. Ensure they are cut into small, manageable pieces. ### Lunch: 4. **Dal Rice Khichdi:** - Prepare a simple khichdi using rice, dal (lentils), and vegetables. Mash or cut into small pieces for easy consumption. 5. **Roti with Vegetable Curry:** - Offer small pieces of chapati or roti with a mild vegetable curry. Ensure the curry has soft, well-cooked vegetables. ### Afternoon Snack: 6. **Cheese Cubes:** - Provide small cubes of mild cheese. Cheese is a good source of calcium and healthy fats. 7. **Ragi (Finger Millet) Malt:** - Mix ragi flour with water or milk and cook to make a malt. Add a bit of jaggery for sweetness. ### Dinner: 8. **Vegetable Upma:** - Prepare upma with semolina (suji) and include finely chopped vegetables. Keep the consistency suitable for your baby. 9. **Paneer (Cottage Cheese) Bhurji:** - Scramble paneer with soft vegetables like tomatoes and peas. Serve with a small chapati. ### Before Bed: 10. **Mashed Banana:** - Offer mashed banana as a light and easy-to-digest snack before bedtime. ### Tips: - Ensure foods are cut into small, bite-sized pieces to prevent choking. - Gradually introduce a variety of foods to expose your baby to different flavors and textures. - Keep meals and snacks consistent, and pay attention to your child's hunger and fullness cues. Always consult with your pediatrician for personalized advice based on your child's specific needs. Additionally, be mindful of any potential allergies when introducing new foods.
