At 6 months, breast milk or formula should remain the main source of nutrition, but you can start introducing immunity-boosting and weight-gaining solids slowly. Begin with iron-rich foods like mashed moong dal, rice cereal, ragi porridge, and soft mashed vegetables such as carrot, pumpkin, and sweet potato. These are easy to digest and help with healthy weight gain. You can also offer mashed banana, stewed apple, and pear for vitamins that support immunity. Start one food at a time and watch for any reactions. Avoid salt, sugar, honey, and cow’s milk. Continue regular breastfeeding, as it naturally strengthens immunity.
