Sai Prasanthi R LMom of a 11 yr 6 m old boy4 years agoA. Hello dear parent! Soda is definitely not required. Take 1 cup of urad dal and 2 cups of idli sooji. Soak them for 3 to 4 hours separately. Grind urad dal tuna smooth liquid and mix it to the soaked drained idli sooji. Add salt. Leave it to ferment for at least 8 hours to get the required texture. Mix it all well and prepare idlis as and when required.
