Q.
we gave vaccine (3 injection )to my younger kid 3months old , in one thigh alone swelling is there, we gave ice pack for 2 days still it didn't settle down, the swelling became red today and he is crying in pain, will hot fomentation helps ? or can I use ig paint . swelling has to settle down fast.please help .

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Post vaccination swelling may be a common thing specially after DPT vaccine which may be painful for two or three days and the swelling may remain even up to month so if it is not causing any pain or other symptoms nothing to worry.
Swelling can be reduced by giving ice fomentation locally and paracetamol can be given for fefdver or pain.
Thrombophobe ointment can bhe applied in acute pain and swelling .
