A. White spots on a child's face can have several causes, including: 1. Pityriasis Alba: A common skin condition that appears as light patches, usually seen in children with dry skin. 2. Eczema: If your child has eczema, it can sometimes cause lighter patches on the skin. 3. Tinea Versicolor: A fungal infection that can lead to discolored patches on the skin. 4. Vitiligo: A condition where the skin loses pigment, resulting in white patches. 5. Sun Exposure: Prolonged sun exposure can lead to lighter spots on the skin. What to Do: 1. Moisturize: Use a gentle moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. 2. Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen if your child will be exposed to sunlight to prevent further discoloration. 3. Avoid Irritants: Keep away from harsh soaps and skincare products that might irritate the skin. 4. Consult a Doctor: If the spots persist, change in size, or are accompanied by other symptoms, consult a pediatrician or dermatologist for a proper diagnosis and treatment. It’s essential to get a professional evaluation to determine the exact cause and appropriate treatment.
