A. The most common cause of vomiting in children and babies is gastroenteritis. This is an infection of the gut usually caused by a virus or bacteria, which also causes diarrhoea. The symptoms can be unpleasant but your child will usually start to feel better after a few days.A prolonged bout of crying can trigger the gag reflex and make your child vomit. Although it's troubling for both of you, throwing up during a crying spell won't physically harm your child. If they appear otherwise healthy, there's no reason to be concerned.Call Your Doctor If: Vomits all clear fluids for more than 8 hours. Vomiting lasts more than 24 hours. Blood or bile (green color) in the vomit.
