Q.

my nephew is 1.5 month he was born with 2kg 800 gram (premature at 8month) now his weight is 4kg 900gram is this abnormal or normal? he want milk at every 1 hour or sometimes before that. why there is sudden increase in weight? can he have thyroid? his mother and father don't have thyroid. what to do now?

A. baby is on breastfeeding. No formula is given till now and thanks for your suggestion.

A. First of to check what milk is been provided to your nephew is it is formula feeding then sometimes kids can gain good amount of weight with that one KG every month is decent enough if the child is on formula feeding some kids can gain like that and yes there could be a possibility of thyroid also even if the parents are not thyroid positive because I don’t is not contagious neither it is hereditary for anybody it is just that a child or a person can have it on its own so you need to check with a paediatrician one time

A. 4kg 900 grms at what month ? initial 3to 4 month weight increase is very rapid 1 kg per month is normal so if he gained 2 kg in a month that coud be problematic but if in 2 months or 3 months after birth thats very normal n good for baby
