A. First and foremost calm yourself down and then your child. Stop what you are doing and walk them, if you can to a safe spot where they can calm down. Do not leave them. Be with them and use a calm, soft voice and encourage them to breathe by breathing with them slowly. Ignoring is the best strategy to make a tantrum stop. Avert your eyes, pretend you cannot hear the screaming and walk away if you have to but make sure you do not shower your child with any type of attention.
