A. Your 5-year-5-month-old daughter has a mouth wound (ulcers) for 3 days along with pain in legs and hands. This could be due to several reasons: Possible Causes 1️⃣ Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) – Common in kids and causes mouth ulcers, fever, rashes on hands, feet, or buttocks. Usually viral and goes away in 7-10 days. 2️⃣ Viral Infection / Post-Viral Body Aches – Some viruses cause mouth ulcers, body pain, mild fever, or weakness. 3️⃣ Nutritional Deficiencies – Lack of Vitamin B12, iron, or zinc can cause mouth ulcers and muscle pain. Does she eat less veggies/fruits? 4️⃣ Dehydration or Acidic Food – Eating spicy, citrus, or salty foods can worsen mouth ulcers. Less water intake can cause muscle cramps and weakness. 5️⃣ Mild Reaction to Medications or Allergies – Any new medicines taken recently? Some kids react to certain foods, leading to ulcers and joint pain. What You Can Do at Home? ✔ For Mouth Ulcers: Apply honey or ghee directly on ulcers for soothing relief. Give coconut water, buttermilk, or cold milk to reduce irritation. Avoid spicy, salty, and citrus foods. ✔ For Leg & Hand Pain: Offer warm water baths or gentle massages with coconut oil. Keep her hydrated with ORS, soups, and fresh juices. Give a banana or dry fruits (rich in potassium & magnesium) for muscle relief. ✔ Boost Immunity & Healing: Give Vitamin C-rich foods (guava, oranges, amla) to speed up healing. Try homemade ragi porridge, paneer, eggs, or dates to strengthen bones & muscles. When to See a Doctor? ⚠ If ulcers last more than 7 days or worsen. ⚠ If she has high fever (above 101°F) or rashes on hands/feet. ⚠ If she refuses to eat or drink due to mouth pain. ⚠ If body pain is severe and persistent. Would you like help with a soft-food diet plan for her? Let me know!
