Q.

My daughter is 5 years old suddenly today morning she got fever 104f. After giving paracetamol it's got reduced and after 3-4 hours again fever increased to 104f. Again after giving paracetamol it's reduced for 3 hours and getting increased. Now it's is 105f. and again it's reducing to 102.7( 2 hours later) after giving paracetamol. Morning checked with her pediatrician and he suggested to wait for 1 more days to check any other symptoms are getting developed or not? Do I need to take her to hospital again?

A. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed . Lukewfarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever. Adequate fluid inftake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .

A. good evening no I would definitely recommend that you should wait for another one day it is possible that it is only viral it usually takes 3 days to settle down so it is advisable to wait that duration
