HomeQuestions & Answersmy daughter is 4 years old and from the time she turned 3 she started to skip her afternoon nap and wanted to take a nap at odd timings which used to affect her night time sleep. so as a mom i started to avoid making her sleep in the afternoon and straight put her to bed by 8:45 or max by 9:00. does this affect her growth or brain development? she's a very active child and there is no problem with her diet as well. please help me because at home my in laws are literally behind me for this saying I don't care for the child and it will affect her health. Am I doing the right thing by skipping her afternoon nap for a peaceful and continuous night sleep.

Uma RamMom of a 7 yr 9 m old boy3 weeks agoA. Hello good morning !! Check if the baby is having 10- 14 hours sleep a day for overall growth and development then it is fine. Yes, for toddlers afternoon naps are good, especially in summers ,naps make them relaxed and give energy and refreshment . You can make a schedule to wake her up early in the morning by 6-7 am and then the baby would get sleep by 1 pm -2 pm,after 1-2 hours nap you can make her play, engage in activities for 2-3 hours by 9-9:30 pm you can make her sleep.
