Q.

My daughter is 4 months old , her weight was 5 Kg as measured 15 days back. The weight at the time of birth was 3.2 kg. Is the current weight normal or on lower side. Also please guide about how to attain a healthy weight. She is feeding on her mother's milk only.

A. Hello father the baby has only gained 1.8 kgs only , though the range of weight gain monthly is between 300 gm to 1 kg and by the age of 4 to 6 months they double their birth weight. you can ask the mother to have a healthy and nutritious feed preferably before baby feed time as that would ensure good quality milk and help in weight gain.
