Q.

My daughter is 3.5years old. She is used to AC temperature till 16degree. Recently we relocated to Hyderabad and its been 2months she is having cough and cold. Is it because of the climate? She used to sleep with ac turned On and she doesn't feel much cool here in Hyderabad. So what could be the possible cause for her cough and cold?

A. it is in diagnosis of allergic cough cold . here the child will have regular cough and cold which is usually not associated with fever . it increases and decreases but does not get cured completely. dr will give anti allergic medicine usually motelukast / levocetirizine. if its still not improving the next line of treatment will be inhaler therapy with mcdi / nebulizer. allergy can be environmental (temperature variation -hot to cold weather/ cold water intake / dust / smoke / pollens) , food , chocolate / packet preservatives food and sweet food alxso. body cannot sustain such allergic changes leading to cough cold usually at evening /night and morning.

A. Hello dear parent, yes it is due to weather and city change that child is facing cough and cold. So do not worry as she will get used to the weather of the current city she will be fine. Also try and keep the blow of AC away from her so that she can sleep well. Good luck and take care
