POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy5 months agoA. At 3 years and 9 months, it’s very normal for a child to be full of energy and test limits—that's a key part of their development. But it can be exhausting, no doubt! Here are some tips to help:
1. Set a Routine
Kids this age feel more secure and behave better when they know what to expect. Try to keep a consistent daily routine with time for play, meals, naps/rest, and bedtime.
2. Use Clear Instructions
Instead of saying “don’t run,” try saying “please walk inside.” Keep it short and clear.
3. Positive Reinforcement
Catch her being good and praise her right away—“I love how you’re sitting quietly!” This encourages her to repeat the behavior.
4. Offer Choices
Give her small choices like “Do you want to wear the red dress or blue one?” This makes her feel in control and more willing to cooperate.
5. Limit Screen Time
Too much screen time can increase hyperactivity. Try to keep it minimal and encourage physical play instead.
6. Calm and Consistent Discipline
Avoid shouting. Instead, calmly tell her the consequence of her behavior and follow through—like time-outs or removing a toy.
7. Channel the Energy
She’s likely just very active! Enroll her in physical activities—dancing, running, or helping with small tasks at home.
Do you notice any speech delay, trouble interacting with others, or poor eye contact? If not, this may just be a high-energy phase.
