A. It's quite common for babies, especially in the first couple of years, to have trouble sleeping through the night. Here are some possible reasons and suggestions to help improve your child's sleep: Hunger or Thirst: Babies often wake up if they are hungry or thirsty. Ensure that your baby is getting enough food during the day and consider offering a small feed before bedtime. Teething: If your child is teething, it can cause discomfort that disrupts their sleep. You can try using a teething ring or massaging their gums to help relieve discomfort. Overstimulation: Overactive play or exposure to screens before bed can make it harder for babies to settle down. Try creating a calming bedtime routine with activities like a warm bath, gentle rocking, or reading a book. Sleep Environment: Check if your baby’s sleep environment is conducive to rest. Keep the room cool, dark, and quiet. A white noise machine can sometimes help block out distractions. Separation Anxiety: At around 9-12 months, babies can start experiencing separation anxiety, which might make them more restless at night. You can try comforting them by being nearby or offering a soft toy or blanket for reassurance. Sleep Schedule: Try to establish a consistent sleep schedule, with regular naps during the day and a calming routine at night. Consistency helps regulate your baby’s internal clock. If your baby’s sleep issues persist, or if there are other signs of discomfort or illness, consider consulting a pediatrician for further advice.
