Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. no need to worry about the smell in the stool if the consistency of the stool is normal.
it is very normal that the smell of the stool would be slightly different in children less than 6 months of age due to the supplements they might be taking as well as due to the maturing digesting system.
if the weight gain of the child is proper and the child is not having any other colic problems then no need to worry
straining while passing stool as well as urine is normal.
the child is crying due to colic pain (due to gas) and not due to the reason that the child has not passed the stool.
infants may not pass stool for 10 days also and if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid zit is not constipation. you can consider constipation only if it is hard and dry stools.
you can give anticolic medicines and meet your doctor.
burping / upright position for 20 minutes will help in decreasing thse gas and future colic pain
