Q.

My baby was born at 1.1 kg premature (30 week delivery) , at 7 th month she is only 4.9 kg... what should I do , are there any prescribed test she should undergo for low weight gain .

A. hey, worry not, jus After your baby has completed 6 month of age, you can gradually start weaning foods. Keep in mind that weaning is a gradual and time taking process and baby takes time to switch to foods, other than breast milk. You can start with rice porridge, Ragi porridge. Also you can give mashed fruits like chikoo, banana, papaya, pureed Apple, etc. You should avoid giving animal milk to the baby before he is 1 year old and also avoid salt and sugar for him till that age. Simple homemade foods which are easy to digest fresh ,Cerelac nestum can be offered. keep giving water also after 6 month complete and breast feeding to be continued too.

A. Your child was a pre-term child born so much early and that to your child has gained decent weight according to the age but since now you will start with semisolid food you should definitely go ahead with giving a rich protein content to the child and also you should consult a nutritionist once she can advise you with the right kind of diet plan that’s going to be healthy for the child overall.Write Your Answer Here
