A. When growing kids don't gain weight as they should, it is called "failure to thrive." Failure to thrive is not a disease or disorder itself. Rather, it's a sign that a child is undernourished. In general, kids who fail to thrive are not getting enough calories to grow and gain weight in a healthy way.For babies above 12 months, fresh dairy milk can be used. Do not use milk that comes in tetra packs for babies and toddlers. 3. Foods like potato, pumpkin, sweet potato, dal, ghee, ragi, almonds, yogurt, eggs and milk help the baby to gain weight.Breast Milk. Let's start off with the most obvious suggestion there is – feed your child breast milk! ...Bananas. This fruit is rich in potassium, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6 and carbohydrates. ...Sweet Potatoes. Sweet potatoes are easy to boil and mash. ...Pulses. ...Ragi. ...Ghee. ...DAIRY. ...Eggs.
