Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 6 m old boy2 years agoA. mucus in the stool is very common phenomenon. it is usually present due to the throat mucus / thick saliva as well as respiratory secretions which pass on from respiratory tract (parts of nasal cavity , oral cavity and throat) to the gastrointestinal tract by swallowing and then comes out through the anal canal mixed with the stool. it may be present in less quantity during regular times and would be in more qugantity during allergy as well as cough and cold in the child. mucus in the stool is also associated with gastrointestinal infections as a less constipation as well as indigestion. treatment is usually given according to the cause

There could be a percentage of chance that your child could be having an infection infection it would be better to get it checked with your doctor because sometimes stickiness and mucus into the motion of the child can be a very clear sign for stomach infection
