Q.

My baby is 6 weeks old. His birth weight was 3.02kg and post birth reduced to 2.7kg Now his weight is around 3.45kg. How is the progress? He had latching issues so we were giving mixed feeds(expressed and formula) but since yesterday we have started exclusive breastfeed. How should we transition from top up feeds to exclusive feeds?

A. The baby will lose around 10% of the body weight in the first 10 to 15 days and there after gain around 15 g to 20 g per day. There is no need to worry about the transition. You can happily exclusively breast-feed
