Start by offering small amounts of solids once a day.. preffer day time to feed. avoid bottle feeding
Follow three day rule.
Breastfeeding or formula feeding should continue alongside the solid foods, as they still form an essential part of the infant diet till 1 year.
Give vegetables (eg pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, carrot puree) fruits (eg cooked pears/apple, ripe banana) .
Moong Daal water, rice kangi.
Ragi porridge, rice porridge.

Yes, it is fine to introduce semi solid or pureed foods in baby's diet between the age of 5-6 months as by then their immunity and digestion develop a bit for outside foods. Alongwith lentil water you can now feed apple, pear or carrot puree, ragi and sooji porridge, mixed vegetable soup, mashed banana, etc.
