Q.

My baby is 4 month old and weight is 4.6kg. so doctor suggested to some external food along with breastfeeding. Shall I provide external food at 4 month as my baby weight is less or else how can I increase my baby weight with breastfeeding?

A. Exclusive breastfeeding is advisable till the time the baby completes 6 months of age. No solids or semi solids before that. The mother should eat a healthy and well balanced diet for the baby to gain weight. Make sure that while feeding, the baby empties one breast first before moving on to the next breast as the milk that comes towards the end which is hind milk, is rich in fat and helps in healthy weight gain of the baby. Massage your baby with Dabur Lal Tail or coconut oil and this also helps to gain weight.
