Q.

my baby is 3 months old, he is not passing stool for 7 days and he is bit feverish from yesterday. Can you advice what to do ?

A. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Cajtn be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed . Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever. Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .

A. Fever could be due to seasonal change and if your child is not passing motion that’s very regular constipation with kids for 7 to 10 days if you require you can put an anime into the anus of your child that way your child will pass motion within 6 to 7 hours for fever you can give Calpol five drops as of now
