See kids do not have much of a sense right now they are always close to people who are mostly with them so maybe the mother-in-law spending more time with your child which is why this could be happening what is nothing to feel insecure because a mother is a mother at the end of the day nobody can replace it and if you are feeling so much and secure then spend more time with the child try to focus on spending more time with your child on a personal level
