cough and cold medicine is given according to the requirement and examination so do not give any medicine without medical consultation. 
if given without consultation coughing medicine can aggravate the problem.

you can go for home remedies like tulsi ginger (honey is added when child is more than 1 year of age) combination which can be diluted with water and given frequenttly to the child. 
also you can give turmeric with milk one or two times everyday. 
give warm water to drink as well as nasal saline drops frequently. give warm diet
try to prevent temperature variations around the child that is from hot to cold and cold to hot environment

Give indirect steam inhalation 
Take healthy protein rich nutritious food including fenugreek ajwain butter to increase your breast milk avoid stress stay happy it also help to increase your breast milk you can take lactogen tablet to increase bm 
Burp well after evey feeding by holding  your baby in straight right position and wait for burping atleat ten minutes 
Do tummy time and cycyling movement of legs regularly
