POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 5 m old child9 months agoA. Gurgling sounds in babies are usually normal and often come from digestion or movement of gas in the intestines. However, if your baby is also crying while passing gas, not sleeping well, and the abdomen feels hot, it could be a sign of gas discomfort or colic.
Here’s what you can do:
Gently massage the baby’s tummy in a clockwise direction. Try bicycle leg movements to help release gas. Keep your baby upright after feeding for 15–20 minutes to reduce gas buildup. If formula-fed, check if the formula suits your baby; some babies are sensitive to certain formulas. Make sure the baby is burped well after each feed.
If the abdomen feels unusually hot, or the baby has fever, is refusing feeds, or the crying is intense and persistent, consult a pediatrician. Your doctor might suggest anti-gas drops like simethicone if needed.
