Q.

My baby girl is 8 months old..she is passing stools with lot of strain and stools are like a heavy thick paste. After consulting pediatrician, I am giving her stool softner..giving her adequate amount of water but still she is facing difficulty in passing stools..any suggestions..have also tried suppository as well. So after suppository if gets cleared out but still next day this problem comes up

A. Your child is having constipation for which kindly give plenty of water to drink and fibre diet made from cereals pulses vegetables and fruits. Changes in diet has to be made Specially give papaya, banana, oats, fennel seeds water pear, prune, pineapple, resins, plum as it will help in decreasing constipation. Even after that the problem continues kindly meet your doctor for constipation medicine. it is important for you to know that thez problem of constipation will improve with increasing age of the child. You may increase or decrease the dosage of constipationz medicine if needed according to the consistency of the stool.
