Q.

my baby 40days old, on exclusive breastfeeding, but straing to pass stools daily, not passing evry day, once in 3/4 days, but passing thick paste like consistency, not having abdominal distension, vomiting, active and playful, but straining more to pass stools, grunting like sound, what should I do to pass stool daily

A. straining while passing urine and stool is very normal before completion of 6 months of age. sometimes this can continue for one year of age also. it usually occurs occurs due to the distention of the urinary bladder and rectum of the child. the sensation is new for the child that's why the child is crying if you feel that the crying is more than normal you should visit a pediatrician for examination

A. If your baby is only being breastfed they may not poop every day. This is because their body can use up almost all the components of breast milk for nutrition and there is very little left that needs to be eliminated. After the first 6 weeks or so they can go even a week or two without a poop.
