A. It's great that you're keeping an eye on your twins' development! At 7 months and 21 days old, most babies typically reach several developmental milestones, but there's a wide range of what is considered normal. Here are some key points regarding their development: Typical Developmental Milestones for 7-Month-Olds: 1. Sitting Up: Many babies can sit up independently by this age, but some may take longer. If they are able to roll over, that's a positive sign of strength and mobility. 2. Crawling: While some babies start crawling by this age, others may still be learning to coordinate their movements. 3. Social Interaction: Babies often begin to show more interest in their surroundings and engage in play. They may not quarrel at this age, but they should be showing interest in interacting with each other and their caregivers. 4. Rolling: Rolling over is a good developmental milestone. It shows that they are developing their muscle strength and coordination. Things to Consider: Sitting: If your twins are not sitting up yet, you might want to encourage this skill by providing plenty of tummy time and helping them practice sitting with support. You can use cushions or your lap to help them balance. Rolling: Since they are rolling, this indicates they have good core strength. It's important to encourage their movement and allow them to explore their environment safely. Developmental Variations: Every baby develops at their own pace. Some may hit milestones early, while others may take a bit longer. Twins often have different developmental timelines as well. When to Consult a Pediatrician: Lack of Progress: If they are not showing any signs of sitting up or crawling by 8-9 months, it would be a good idea to discuss your concerns with a pediatrician. Other Concerns: If you notice any other developmental concerns, such as a lack of interest in interaction or not responding to sounds or visual stimuli, consult your doctor. Encouragement Tips: Tummy Time: Continue with tummy time to help strengthen their neck, back, and core muscles. Sitting Practice: Place them in a sitting position with support and encourage them to reach for toys. Playtime: Encourage interactive play with toys that require reaching and grabbing to stimulate their development. Engagement: Play games that involve rolling a ball or gently pushing them to encourage movement. Overall, while it’s understandable to be concerned about their development, many babies reach milestones at different times. If you're feeling uncertain, your pediatrician can provide reassurance and support tailored to your twins' needs.
