Q.

My 5month old is having cough and congestion in chest. What should I do? He is not gaining wt. (Same wt since last 2months).what to do?

A. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant gdbronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should beh given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough. if fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .

You can actually nebulise your child this is going to help a lot in reducing down congestion from the chest and throat of the child and the second thing I would advise you to go ahead with powder feeling seems like a child is not gaining weight because your breast feeding is not sufficient and healthy enough to gain weightWrite Your Answer Here
