A. Same incident happened with my son also, on fifth day of his continue high grade fever, we took him to the hospital , but no improvement occurred, apart from supportive treatment, and most of the test are negative, Dr suspect broncho pneumonia, as if they found little chest infection, but after giving good antibiotics, not seeing any improvement.after 10days atlast fever gone. And on that time they found my 4Years old son suffered by CORONA VIRUS 229E . Now he is okay. So don't neglect and hesitate to go to hospital. Don't take me wrong, I am just share my experience in this Mid January.

A. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weekgs . Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated affter 4-6 hrs if needed . Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever. Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .
