Q.

My 4.5 months old daughter always cries at the breast (maybe because of milk flow) and rejects the breast after the 1-2 sips when she is not able to regulate the flow. However she drinks without any issues while sleeping. What is this? Currently I put her to sleep every time before offering breast. Any suggestion is appreciated.

A. I am facing the exact situation with my daughter and previously with my son. she refuses to feed just before let-down when she's awake. but milk flow doesn't affect her while she's sleeping and even an engorged breast is not a problem 😂. if I missed to feed in her sleep, then I had to wait for her next nap. what I do is WALKING while breastfeeding. this helps her to distract from feeding .

A. Teething can be one reason and if the flow was a problem trust me the child would not even take that feed properly while sleeping so there’s another issue only either it is coming or there is some another issue I would recommend you to consult a lactation specialist regarding this because this wave the child is not going to take the feed growth and the weight is going to get hampered
