Give your kid a bowl and a spoon to eat and let him make a mess and let him play with the food. This is how he or she will learn to eat on his own while touching, playing, and finally tasting the food. Give his or her favourites along with the new foods that you want to introduce in his or her diet. Offer colourful foods like beetroot halwa, gajar halwa etc and offer foods on colourful plates or in colourful bowls. Cut foods into different shapes using food cutters to attract the attention of the kid. Avoid distractions during meal times such as TV, laptop, mobile phones, tablets etc.
