A. Poor appetite in infancy can be normal or maybe associated with any medical illness. As in post recovery from an viral illness, she might have anorexia (reduced appetite) which is totally physiological. We have to be patient and keep giving her a balanced diet along with continued breast feeding. Iron deficiency is common in infancy and it is one of the popular reasons of poor appetite which is easily recognised by your dr. Ask your dr to suggest iron supplements after a dose of deworming. The most ignored reason for poor appetite maybe be the lack of variety in her daily diet. You can refer the model diet given in first cry magazine for further reference.. If she is developmentally appropriate then there is no reason to panic as the catch up growth can happen upto 2 years dear mommy. Happy feeding...

A. Does she have milk in the morning once she wakes up. If so let some gap before giving breakfast. Let her feel the hunger and then feed. If she can sit erect and chew well and eat u can also give in small pieces and let her eat on her own under ur supervision. This will Kindle her interest.
