POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy7 months agoA. If your one-month-old baby has not passed stool for 11 days, it is important to monitor the baby’s overall health. Occasional constipation is normal in breastfed babies, but 11 days is a long gap, especially if the baby is uncomfortable.
Immediate Steps & Home Remedies
✔ Bicycle Leg Exercise – Gently move the baby’s legs in a cycling motion to stimulate the intestines.
✔ Tummy Massage – Lightly massage the baby’s tummy in a clockwise direction using warm coconut oil or mustard oil.
✔ Warm Water Bath – A warm bath can relax the abdominal muscles and help pass stool.
✔ Tummy Time – Place the baby on their tummy for a few minutes under supervision. This can help relieve gas and promote bowel movement.
✔ Gripe Water or Hing Paste – If your baby has gas, applying hing (asafoetida) paste (mixed with warm water) around the navel may help.
✔ If Formula-Fed – Ensure you are preparing formula correctly, as improper mixing can cause constipation.
Warning Signs – When to See a Doctor?
⚠ Seek medical help if:
Baby is crying excessively or seems in pain. Baby’s belly is hard or swollen. Baby is refusing feeding. Blood or mucus in stool when passed. Vomiting or fever.
Since your baby hasn’t passed stool for 11 days even after medication, I strongly recommend consulting a pediatrician immediately to rule out any underlying issues.
