POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy5 months agoA. Thanks for sharing, and letโs look at this carefully.
For a 3-month-old baby like Meenakshi, passing stool more than 20 times a day (10 day + 10 night) is not considered normal, especially if this is a sudden change.
Letโs consider a few things: 1. Is Baby Breastfed? Exclusively breastfed babies can poop often โ even 6โ8 times a day โ and it can be normal if: Baby is gaining weight Stool is soft, mustard-yellow, not foul-smelling Baby is active and feeding well
But 20+ times a day is on the higher side, even for breastfed babies.
2. Signs to Watch For:
If any of the following are present, it may indicate an infection or intolerance:
Watery or mucusy stool Sudden increase in frequency Foul smell Fever or vomiting Diaper rash Dehydration signs (dry lips, sunken eyes, less pee) 3. Formula-fed or Mixed-fed Baby? Frequent pooping could indicate formula intolerance or infection. Sometimes a reaction to something in your diet (if breastfeeding) like dairy, spicy food, or caffeine. What to Do Now: Monitor babyโs hydration: Is she urinating well? Staying active? Observe stool consistency: Watery or mucus-like? Check weight gain: Is she steadily gaining weight? Consult your pediatrician: A stool test might be needed To rule out infection, lactose intolerance, or other causes
