Q.

I'm a breastfeeding mom of 4 months old baby. I am having severe tooth pain for the last three days. When I consulted a dentist I was told that my wisdom tooth and the one next to it (molar) should be extracted because most of the tooth has gone due to decay. But the problem is that the dentist told me antibiotics given at the time of tooth extraction may be passed on to the baby and the baby may sometimes have loose stools. she insisted that I may not be able to breastfeed for 3-4 days. On hearing this I decided to adjust the pain but it only becomes severe every day. Doctor please advise what is the best solution here that is good for my baby.

A. I think you should go ahead with the surgery I can understand this kind of a problem is really very much because I do have been through a tooth distraction and the pain is unbearable so I think it would be good if you get it done and ask your doctor to suggest antibiotics which would be rather more safer to be taken during the like time of lactation as that kind of thing is also available and if not then start giving formula milk to the child and that’s how you can give combination feeding for the time being
