A. The hemoglobin level may sometimes get low during pregnancy when the baby sucks the required iron and the left iron is not sufficient for the mother. In such cases based on the requirements doctor may prescribe a iron supplement or injection. In my case with my twin pregnancy, the hemoglobin level was too low and doctor prescribed injection on alternate days. In addition to doctors prescription you can include iron rich food like sweet potato, ragi, oats, beetroot, peas, eggs, fish, all greens, lentils, soya beans, dry fruits, jaggery, tofu etc.,(whichever will suit u) in ur diet.
