Mom of a 3 m old boy1 month ago
Q.

I gave birth to a pre matured baby on 7th January. His birth weight was 2 kgs but it dropped drastically to 1.73 kgs as he had jaundice and was not feeding as expected. Now he has gained weight but he is still 2.4 kgs and is too thin. Its been 50 days (almost 8 weeks) since he was born and exclusively breast feeding but still his weight is not increasing as expected. What could be done?

A. Minimum expectation for a premature child is 350 g so if you look at it in two months or 50 days your child has gained 600 g which is ideally good so if you want to increase more weight if you feel your child is not picking up then combine it with formula where you can give 60% of your breastfeeding and formula so that the child gains better over the period
