Q.

I can see hives(reddish) on my legs and have itchiness from last week.I am having 6 months old baby. I have thyroid. what can be the reason for itchiness and hives?

A. Hives may occur because the hormone histamine plays an important role in milk filling the breasts. Recurrent hives with breastfeeding will usually subside before the end of the first month. You may use a type II, non-sedating antihistamine to manage the symptoms or prevent the onset of the rash.
