Q.

I am breastfeeding through nip shield as baby was not able to latch directly due to flat nipples issue. He is one month old and I have been trying to wean him off nip shield but not able to. I try to quickly change from nip shield to direct breastfeed during the feed when he has fed for sometime and is half asleep. But he struggles to latch and gets fussy and starts crying. Any advise on how to wean them off? Is it harmful to use in long run? It's definitely not convenient all the time and I want to breastfeed him directly. Please help

A. good evening instead of trying to introduce it in the middle of the feeding session I suggest that you keep the child hungry for another 20 minutes and then try to feed directly instead of using nipple shield
