First of all you have to see whether your breast feeding is sufficient for the child or not and if it is not then you have to go ahead with giving formula feeding to the child and once your child completes the time of six months that is going to be the right time for you to introduce all kind of healthy semisolid food to the child as that is what is going to be helpful for overall weight gain and growth of your child
