Q.

how much cow milk should be given to 1 year baby ..baby also consumes breast milk 3 times a day. pediatrician suggestions 400ml of cow milk plus breast milk additional. but my baby drinks only 100 cow milk a day n refuses more.

A. Cow's milk should be given to the baby only after completion of 1 year of age because the protein and fat in cow's milk is hard to digest before that and many a times there could be cow's milk protein allergy in babies and lactose intolerance which could be severe sometimes. Also early introduction of cows milk can lead to iron deficiency anemia as cow's milk lacks ironh and vit c . Also there could be micro bleeding in intestine because of the heavy protein ogf cow's milk .To start with cow's milk should be given than gradually you can shift to buffalo milk or a packet milk which is a mixture of two .
