Newborn to 2 months: Start tummy time as soon as your baby is born, even if it's just a few minutes at a time, a couple of times a day. Gradually increase the duration as your baby gets used to it.
2 to 3 months: By this age, aim for 15 to 30 minutes of tummy time spread throughout the day. Your baby should be able to lift their head and chest during tummy time.
4 to 6 months: Your baby will start pushing up on their arms and may begin to roll over. Continue tummy time for about 30 minutes to 1 hour a day, divided into several sessions.
6 months and beyond: By now, your baby may be able to sit up with support, and tummy time can be part of their regular playtime routine. At this age, tummy time is still beneficial for building strength and coordination.
Always supervise your baby during tummy time, and make sure it's done on a firm surface. The goal is to build strength gradually and encourage development of motor skills. If you have any concerns about your baby's development, consult with your pediatrician.
