Genetics can also play a role as psoriasis tends to run in families. About one out of every three people with the condition also have a relative diagnosed with psoriasis.Steroid creams or ointments (topical corticosteroids) are commonly used to treat mild to moderate psoriasis in most areas of the body. The treatment works by reducing inflammation. This slows the production of skin cells and reduces itching. Topical corticosteroids range in strength from mild to very strong.Psoriasis in babies is uncommon and may be challenging to diagnose. The condition can occur on many areas of the body, including the area typically covered by a diaper. If your baby is diagnosed with psoriasis, treatment may include topical medications, light therapy, and caring for the affected areas.
